If the weather’s clear, you can see Mt Rainier from many parts of the Metro Seattle area, perhaps most beautifully when crossing Lake Washington on the way to Woodinville. So, if the day is clear, be sure to have your camera ready. Here’s a bit about the mountain: Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape, 68 miles from Seattle. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning five major rivers. Don’t worry about the “active volcano” bit, its been over 570 years since the mountain played with any lava.
